The Derna tragedy…samples are taken from more than 5000 bodies

The General Authority for Search and Identification of Missing Persons said that the specialized teams in the city of Derna took 5,621 samples from the bodies of unidentified victims of the Derna tragedy.

The authority announced in a statement the completion of work inside the Al-Dhahr Al-Ahmar cemetery, exhuming all the victims, completing all legal procedures, and reburying them again.

The authority added that search teams for the remains exhumed 1,739 unidentified bodies from the Al-Dhahr Al-Ahmar cemetery, along with 34 bags of body parts, noting that the specialized teams had prepared medical reports for 1,875 bodies.

Regarding the Al-Fatayeh cemetery, the authority indicated that the total number of bodies that were reburied after completing the legal procedures and legal aspects reached 1,847 unidentified bodies, along with 28 bags of body parts.

The authority confirmed that all its field teams in all specializations are continuing their work in the city of Derna and other eastern regions.
