The assassination of the prominent leader of the Islamic Resistance Movement (HAMAS) in Palestine, Ismail Haniyeh, was received negatively by different actors in Libya, regardless of their political affiliation.
The House of Representatives (HoR) mourned Haniyeh, expressing its solidarity with the martyr’s family, friends, and all lovers of freedom and justice, condemning in the strongest terms his assassination, according to the statement.
The parliament called on the international community to take firm and clear steps against the criminal operation committed against the ‘martyr Ismail Haniyeh’.
The statement mentioned that the assassination of Haniyeh reflects the state of hostility and terrorism practiced by the Israeli occupation, which is known for its efforts to destabilize the region and target free and struggling voices.
For its part, the High Council of State, in its statement, offered its condolences to the Islamic nation in general and to the brotherly Palestinian people, and the Resistance in particular, for the ‘martyrdom of Ismail Haniyeh’.
Moreover, the Dar al-Iftaa also mourned Haniyeh in a statement, saying that he “joined his sons, grandchildren and comrades, and reached what he had wished for after a long journey of struggle and combat.”
