Five cases of migrant deaths recorded last week while attempting to cross the Mediterranean from Libya

The International Organization for Migration (IOM) announced the death of 5 irregular migrants while being returned to the Mediterranean last week.

The organization said in its weekly report that approximately 900 migrants were returned to Libya during the same period from the Mediterranean, who were heading towards the European shores.

According to the IOM, among those returned irregular migrants were 28 children and more than 45 women of different nationalities.

The total number of deaths from the beginning of the year until August 3 has reached 411 migrants, in addition to 512 who have gone missing.

The number of those returned from the seawaters during the same period was 12,584 migrants, including 884 women and 413 children.
