The Presidential Council’s representatives, Musa Al-Koni and Abdullah Al-Lafi, met with the President of the High Council of State (HCS), Muhammad Takala, and Prime Minister Abdulhamid Dbeiba, to discuss the latest developments in the country at all levels.
The meeting focused on the importance of working together to address the political challenges through a joint mechanism that includes the different political actors, with the aim of reaching elections.
According to the press office of the HCS, the three parties stressed the need to work towards achieving stability in all regions of the country to ensure holding elections, coinciding with the national reconciliation project, which is proceeding at a steady pace, according to the Presidential Council.
The joint discussions come amid talk about an initiative led by UN envoy Abdullah Bathily, to reach a political settlement between the five parties (the Presidential Council, the Presidencies of the House of Representatives (HoR) and the HCS, the government, and the Rajma military command led by Haftar) regarding electoral laws.
