The Minister of Economy and Trade, Mohammed Hawij, stressed the need for the Arab League to play a fundamental role in stabilizing Libya and support holding elections in accordance with the political agreement.
This came in a speech he delivered during a meeting of Arab ministers in Cairo, where he highlighted the need to improve the performance of the Arab League and develop it in a way that enables it to take a role that keeps pace with the challenges facing the world.
The meeting issued a number of decisions related to the course of joint Arab action and others related to the situation in a number of Arab countries, in addition to several matters concerned with social, economic, legal and financial affairs.
In his speech, Al-Hawij pointed out that that Libyans accept partnership and do not accept guardianship, according to his expression. He also touched on Libya’s position regarding the Palestinian issue in the aftermath of the latest event, emphasizing Libya’s steadfast positions in support of the Palestinian people.
