Libya, US officials review 10-year plan to prevent conflict and promote stability

The Libyan Minister-designate of Foreign Affairs, Al-Taher Al-Baour, discussed with the United States (US) Assistant Secretary for the Bureau of Conflict and Stabilization Operations, Anne Witkowsky, and the Special Envoy to Libya, Richard Norland, the 10-year plan for implementing the US Strategy to Prevent Conflict and Promote Stability.

The meeting that was held Tuesday in Tripoli saw a discussion about the mechanisms for coordination between Libya and the US to implement the 10-year plan.

US President Joe Biden announced last March 10-year plans for implementing the US Strategy to Prevent Conflict and Promote Stability in partnership with Libya, Haiti, Mozambique, Papua New Guinea, and Coastal West Africa, including Benin, Côte d’Ivoire, Ghana, Guinea, and Togo.

The announcement said that the plans represented a US commitment to global peace and security, with Washington working alongside an array of local partners toward shared, long-term goals of conflict prevention and peacebuilding.
