Libyan ambassador to Belgium sacked over embezzlement links

The Libyan Prime Minister, Abdul Hamid Dbeibah, has dismissed the ambassador to Belgium, Amal Al-Jarary, sending the decision to the Presidential Council for legal procedures, while the Attorney General order the arrest of the ambassador pending investigation.

The decision by Dbeibah came after a leaked audio was circulated on social media with Al-Jarary seemingly plotting to use some of the healthcare funds (about 200,000 dollars) at the embassy in Belgium for her own benefit through creating fake medical treatment bills.

Dbeibah’s decision to sack Al-Jarary included an order of dismissing the finance official at the embassy in Belgium, Abu Bakr Al-Salheen, and reinstating him as an employee inside Libya.

The arrest order by the Attorney General said there was evidence proving Al-Jarary guilty of making personal profit and abusing public funds.
