Libyan sovereign state positions are up for grabs, HCS announces

The Committee for Sorting and Accepting Candidacy Files for Sovereign State and Leadership Positions of the High Council of State (HCS) resumed work and opened the door for candidacy for sovereign state positions, starting from November 16, to November 24, 2022.

The Committee offered 5 sovereign positions for candidacy: the head and deputy of the Audit Bureau, the president and members of the board of directors of the High National Elections Commission, the governor of the Central Bank of Libya, as well as the deputy governor and members of the board of directors, the head and deputy of the Administrative Control Authority, and the head, deputy and members of the board of directors of the Anti-Corruption Authority.

The Committee set a number of conditions for candidacy: The candidate should be a Libyan of Libyan parents, does not hold the citizenship and passport of any other country, and is not married to a non-Libyan. To any entity, party, group or political organization enjoying civil and political rights.

The candidates should not have held a previously independent sovereign position and not affiliated with any entity, party, group or political organization, in addition to enjoying civil and political rights.

It also said that the candidates should not be an offender to the February 17 revolution, while the rest of the conditions differed according to the nature of the position, including the age requirement, which ranged between 35 and 40 years as a minimum and 65 as a maximum, in addition to being healthy.

The conditions for education ranged between bachelor’s, master’s degrees in the field of competence for each sovereign position. candidates’ experiences should not be less than 10 years for all positions without exception.
