Libya’s AG files lawsuit against Somalian trafficker for crimes against immigrants

The Libyan Attorney General’s Office said it had filed a lawsuit against a Somalian smuggler and five other people for crimes against immigrants and trafficking them on boats via the Mediterranean.

The Attorney General’s Office said it had started preliminary investigation which showed that those persons had been involved in a form of organized crime.

“The involved persons used threats to traffic immigrants, in addition to killing tens of others and arbitrarily detained and then tortured several immigrants, getting in return financial profits.” The Office added.

It also said that the investigation showed that the traffickers were linked with other networks in neighboring countries and countries that have cross-border criminal ideologies.
