Libya’s airliners remain on EU’s blacklist

The European Commission has upheld the ban on Libyan airliners preventing them from operating in European airports, as they remain on the European Union’s blacklist, according to the French website Africa Intelligence.

This decision comes as a continuation of the action taken by the Commission in December 2014, when it banned the passage of aircraft belonging to Libyan airliners in the airspace of member states due to concerns related to air safety controls in Libya.

The European Union blacklist includes seven Libyan airliners, including the two main state-owned companies: Libyan Airlines and Afriqiyah Airways.
