Libya’s NOC announces force majeure on Sharara oilfield

The Libyan National Oil Corporation (NOC) has declared force majeure on Sharara oilfield after what it said “closures that halted production at the field.”

“In a chaotic and absurd step that represented a new step toward reigniting the ongoing conflict in the country, a group of individuals pressured the workers at Sharara oilfield, thus forcing them to gradually stop production, which made the NOC’s implementation of its contractual obligations impossible.” NOC said.

“The NOC is now announcing force majeure on the Sharara oilfield until further notice.” It added, saying the Sharara oilfield is the main supplier to the Al-Zawiya oil refinery, which in turn provides the local market with fuel.
