Qatar’s Foreign Minister visits Libyan capital

The Qatari Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister, Mohammed bin Abdulrahman bin Jassim Al Thani, arrived in Tripoli on Sunday to discuss bilateral relations and reiterate support for the new Libyan executive authority.

The Qatari Foreign Minister and the accompanying delegation met with the Libyan Prime Minister, Abdul-Hamid Dbeibah, as well as Foreign Minister Najla Al-Mangoush and other Government of National Unity officials in the Libyan capital.

Following the meeting, the Qatari Foreign Minister reiterated in a joint press conference with his Libyan counterpart that both Libya and Qatar had agreed to form a working team to assess areas of support to the Government of National Unity and the Libyan people.

Al Thani said that Qatar’s stance toward Libya has always been steady and in support of the political process under the auspices of the United Nations, adding that Doha was looking forward to the visits of the Libyan Presidential Council and Government of National Unity officials to boost cooperation.

Meanwhile, the Libyan Foreign Minister reiterated the importance of the resumption of Qatari embassy work in Libya’s capital, Tripoli, hailing the Qatari role in support of Libya since the start of 2011 revolution.
