Speaker of HoR, Head of HCS to meet to resolve disagreement over election laws

Libya Al-Ahrar TV channel has cited the First Deputy Head of the High Council of State (HCS), Masoud Obaid, as saying that a meeting was being prepared between the Head of the HCS Mohammed Takala and the Speaker of the House of Representatives (HoR) Aqila Saleh in the coming period to reach agreements on electoral laws and prepare for elections.

Likewise, the member of the HoR, Abdelmonem Al-Arfi, confirmed to Libya Al-Ahrar TV the intention of Saleh and Takala to hold a meeting next week, saying that the two chambers would discuss forming a new unity government and the most prominent points of contention regarding elections laws.

This effort comes after the HoR’s publishing of the election laws, which have been drafted by the 6+6 Joint Committee and approved in an HoR session, in the Official Gazette, knowing that the HCS still voices rejection to the laws.
