US Special Envoy to Libya Richard Norland reiterated Washington’s position in rejection of the imposition of solutions by force by any party, expressing readiness to coordinate with Tunisia in order to push toward reaching a political settlement based on dialogue and negotiation.
This came during Norland’s meeting with Tunisian Foreign Minister Nabil Ammar on Monday, when he praised Tunisia’s positive and constructive role in bringing the views of the Libyan parties closer.
According to the Tunisian Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Nabil Ammar recalled “the position of President Kais Saied calling for the solution to be Libyan-Libyan within a framework of consensus and Libyan leadership under the auspices of the United Nations”.
He expressed Tunisia’s support for all efforts aimed at finding a comprehensive and lasting settlement that guarantees Libya’s security, stability, unity, and the sovereignty of its people over its national wealth and capabilities.
According to a statement by the Tunisian Foreign Ministry, the meeting represented an opportunity to discuss the friendly relations that unite Tunisia and the US. They also reviewed a number of aspects of bilateral cooperation and ways to further enhance and diversify them, stressing the importance of further coordination on a number of regional and international issues of common interest.
