Audit Bureau asks Presidential Council to withdraw appointment of Al-Ayeb as spy chief

The Head of the Libyan Audit Bureau, Khalid Shakshak has called on the Presidential Council to withdraw the appointment of Hussein Al-Ayeb as the Chief of Libyan Intelligence.

Shakshak said in a letter to the Presidential Council that Al-Ayeb was involved in fraud and embezzlement of state money and other fraudulent acts when he was the Board Director of the International Company for Development and Investment in Libya.

The Head of the Audit Bureau said the fraud he was involved in included giving contracts worth over 800 million dinars to the Turkish Cengiz construction company aiming to gain personal benefits from the contract.

Last week, the Head of the Presidential Council, Mohammed Menfi, appointed Al-Ayeb as the new Chief of Intelligence to replace Emad Al-Trabelsi who was appointed by the previous Head of Presidential Council, Fayez Al-Sarraj.
