Bashagha: My government came as a result of Unity Government’s failure to hold elections

Libyan Prime Minister-designate who was appointed by the the House of Representatives (HoR), Fathi Bashagha, said that the government he formed came as a direct result of the failure of the Government of National Unity to hold transparent elections.

Speaking to the American Newsweek magazine, Bashagha added that he is committed to holding presidential and parliamentary elections within the time frame agreed upon between the House of Representatives and the High Council of State.

Bashagha stressed that he won’t participate in any acts of violence, reiterating that it has been proven that solutions in Libya will only come through political agreements and dialogue.

He said that there are several factors that contribute to Libya’s inability to recover from the crisis, the most important of which is the lack of infrastructure in some sectors, which made the recovery period in Libya much longer in addition to negative foreign interference at times.

Bashagha said that they are committed to pushing Libya forward by rebuilding infrastructure and alliances with international partners.
