Borders and elections head discussions between Al-Koni and the British ambassador

The Deputy President of the Presidential Council, Musa Al-Koni, stressed the need to assist Libya in securing its southern borders, and providing logistical support to qualify the border guard. This came during a meeting on Thursday in the capital, Tripoli, with the British Ambassador to Libya, Martin Longden.

Al-Koni urged the international community to support The Libyan people in achieving their aspirations and ending the transitional stages by holding fair elections where results would be accepted by all parties. For his part, the ambassador affirmed his country’s continued support for the Presidential Council to end the political impasse.

The meeting touched on the situation in neighboring countries that are witnessing a state of instability, in reference to the states of Sudan and Niger, and its repercussions on the situation in the regions of southern Libya, which have become a scene for smuggling operations, illegal immigration, and organized crime, according to the presidential statement.
