Lavrov condemns the role of Washington and its allies in Libya and elsewhere

Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov has accused the United States and its allies of violating all international standards, especially UN Security Council resolutions on Libya, Yemen, and others.

Lavrov said in a press conference held in Moscow that Russia has expressed constantly its assessment of the developments taking place not only in the Gaza Strip and the Palestinian territories but also regarding Iraq and Yemen.

Lavrov stressed that no one authorized the UN Security Council to bomb Yemen, nor did it authorize a strike on Libya, noting that any statements issued by Washington now have no basis or legitimacy.

Lavrov commented on US Secretary of State Anthony Blinken’s statement a few days ago in Davos that all countries in the Middle East want the presence of the United States to play a role in the region, saying that Iraq, for example, is demanding that the United States withdraw its forces, but the Americans are not responding.

Regarding Gaza, Lavrov explained that there is no objection to advice from abroad, yet the main focus of efforts must be the establishment of a Palestinian state per Security Council resolutions, adding that without that, the violent events that we are witnessing now in the country will be repeated.
