The Deputy Head of the Presidential Council, Abdullah Al-Lafi, called on the loyalists of Muammar Gaddafi’s son, Saif Al-Islam, to attend the national reconciliation preparatory committee’s meeting that is set to be held in Misrata on January 25.
Speaking to Libya Al-Ahrar TV channel following the end of the preparatory committee’s meeting in Zuwara, Al-Lafi called on the Gaddafi loyalists to return the meetings after their withdrawal over “political prisoners”.
The Deputy Head of the Presidential Council said the committee had formed new subcommittees after the Zuwara meeting in order to achieve transitional justice and reparations. He indicated that the transitional justice bill will be sent to the House of Representatives for endorsement into law.
Al-Lafi cofnirmed in his speech to Libya Al-Ahrar TV that the preparatory committee’s meetings for national reconcilation are continuing in order to ensure the holding of the National Reconcilation Conference in Sirte.
