Libya’s ambassador to UN: Tarhouna liberation ends Haftar’s farfetched powers dreams

The Libyan ambassador to the United Nations Taher El Sonni has hailed the liberation of Tarhouna, saying now Khalifa Haftar’s obsession with power and military rule has been terminated by the courageous forces of the Libyan Army under the command of the Government of National Accord.

El Sonni said Friday that with the liberation of southern Tripoli and Tarhouna, Haftar’s anti-revolution and coup plots came to an end, adding that soon enough, all Libyans will sit down together, reconcile and let the bygones be bygones.

He also said that the whole world saw that the war was between a defender of civil state and democracy for all Libyans and an aggressor who wants to bring back the military rule.

“We tell the countries that helped kill our youths and men in this war, Burkan Al-Ghadab Operation has won and its operations will uproot all your hopes for control in Libya.” El Sonni added.

Meanwhile, the Libyan Army forces under the command of the Government of National Accord (GNA) seized this morning full control of Tarhouna city from local militias of Al-Kani and Khalifa Haftar’s terrorist militias after advancing on the city from four frontlines.

The spokesman for the Libyan Army Mohammed Gununu said GNA forces had taught Al-Kani militias a lesson and defeated them as well as Haftar’s terrorist militias, who fled farther from the city and away from western region.

The Libyan Army spokesman added that GNA forces will keep chasing away the terrorist militias of Haftar and eliminate them without any mercy.

This historical liberation of the city from both Haftar and Al-Kani militias comes less than 24 hours after the liberation of the entire Greater Tripoli region following a bloody war that has been ongoing for 14 months.
