Libya’s voter registration for elections now open

The Libyan High National Elections Commission (HNEC) has announced opening the voter registration system and added that it will be closed on July 31 ahead of deadline for holding general elections on December 24.

The announcement came in a ceremony organized by the HNEC in Tripoli to celebrate the opening of its media center, in the presence of the Prime Minister and several officials from the Government of National Unity and the Presidential Council.

The Libyan HNEC added that it will start receiving illegible voters’ messages for registration via text messages, which can also be sent for changing voter’s electoral center.

The Head of the HNEC, Emad Al-Sayeh, said at the ceremony that this step is the first in the path to holding general elections next December as per the roadmap of the Libyan Political Dialogue Forum.
