Sayala and Russian Presidential envoy discuss latest military escalation of Haftar’s militias and continuing attacks on Tripoli

The Libyan Foreign Minister Mohammed Sayala has discussed with the Russian President’s envoy Mikhail Bogdanov the latest developments in Tripoli as well as the ongoing attacks by Khalifa Haftar’s militias.

The Libyan Foreign Ministry of the Government of National Accord said the discussion on the phone touched on the repeated violations of the Libyan ceasefire as agreed on in Moscow.

It added that the Libyan and Russian officials talked about the military and political talks that were held in Geneva under the auspices of the United Nations, reviewing ways to support the UN-led solution tracks.

Bogdanov expressed Moscow’s readiness to cooperate in technical fields with Libya for the resumption of power, mining and railways.

Since early Friday, Haftar’s militias started launching heavy artillery attacks on civilian neighborhoods in Tripoli and on Mitiga Airport as well as areas like Abu Salim, Souq Al-Jumua, Ain Zara and Garabulli.
