On November 6, 2023, the Head of the High Council of State (HCS), Mohamed Takala, met with Prime Minister Abdulhamid Dbeibah to discuss the latest political developments on the local and international levels.
According to the press office of the Government of National Unity, the two officials emphasized the importance of enhancing stability to protect the political process through mechanisms of consensus and dialogue leading to elections
Prior to that, Takala and the Head of the Presidential Council, Mohamed Menfi, also discussed the importance of coordinating the efforts of the two councils to reach a comprehensive political settlement that achieves stability. These meetings come ahead of Takala’s first meeting with the Speaker of the House of Representatives (HoR) Aqila Saleh in Egypt
The HoR has published a draft of the electoral laws in the Official Gazette, despite the objection of the HCS, which raised political tensions once again.
