The High Financial Committee has called for the budget for the development and reconstruction of affected areas to be based on clear standards.
The Committee confirmed the allocation of development budgets for the current and previous year to rebuild municipalities and devastated areas according to specific projects and programs. The Committee also stressed in its sixth regular meeting in Tripoli, in the absence of some of its members, that budget metrics, costs, and implementation tools should be approved according to clear standards from the Financial Committee.
It also confirmed its support for the Social Solidarity Fund to carry out its duty towards affected families, and victims’ families, and provide the necessary support to them. The Committee pointed out that it was agreed that proposals for development programs in basic national development projects would be presented at the next meeting to study them. It reviewed a proposal from a number of technical committees that are responsible for preparing disclosure and transparency standards and monitoring the return of life to Murzouk Municipality with the Ministry of Local Government.
At the beginning of the meeting, the President of the Presidential Council and Chairman of the High Financial Committee, Muhammad Menfi, reconfirmed the position of the Libyan people in support of the just Palestinian cause, stressing that the danger of displacement of Gaza’s people threatens Arab national security in general.
Menfi praised the efforts of government and civil institutions during the Derna crisis, pointing out that the Council will not allow rebuilding devastated and affected areas to turn into an opportunity for corruption by obstructers.
