The Ministries of the Interior of Libya and Tunisia agree to reopen the Ras Jadir border crossing

The Acting Interior Minister in the Government of National Unity (GNU), Imad Trabelsi, announced his agreement with the Tunisian authorities to open the Ras Jadir border crossing after security preparations were completed.

Trabelsi continued in his statement from Tunis, that he and the Tunisian Minister of Interior issued instructions to all competent authorities to resume work at the port.

The Minister of Interior said that opening the crossing will be positive for both Libya and Tunisia and will restore investment and bilateral trade and economic cooperation between the two countries.

This statement came after Trabelsi’s meeting with Tunisian President Kais Saied in the Tunisian capital to discuss the difficulties faced at the Ras Jadir crossing.

The Ras Jadir crossing was closed in mid-March due to armed tensions on the Libyan side after the Ministry of Interior assigned a force to secure the border crossing.
