Tripoli and Rome reject negative external intervention in Libya

The Head of the Presidential Council Fayez Al-Sarraj met with the Italian Foreign Minister Luigi di Maio in Tripoli on Wednesday in the presence of officials from both countries.

The meeting, according to the media office of Al-Sarraj, discussed the importance of returning to the political process and rejecting the negative foreign interventions in Libya.

The media office added that they had reiterated the need for the resumption of the UN-led political process and the rejection of the negative external interventions in the country.

Al-Sirraj and di Maio also talked about the shutdown of oil production and exports, expressing the need for reopening them as they are the main source of income for all Libyans.

The meeting also reviewed the issue of illegal immigration, EU’s IRINI Operation and the efforts to confront the outbreak of the Coronavirus amid the cooperation between Libya and Italy.
