The UN envoy and Head of UNSMIL, Abdoulaye Bathily, met in Tripoli on Wednesday with the Chairman of the High National Elections Commission (HNEC), Emad Al-Sayeh, and discussed the electoral process, including ways to strengthen efforts to hold elections.
The Head of the UNSMIL, according to a statement on the mission’s Facebook page, reiterated the UN’s continued commitment to providing all required technical support for the HNEC.
The HNEC said on its website that Al-Sayeh and Bathily had reviewed international technical support for the HNEC along with the UN agencies’ support for holding elections in Libya.
