According to Africa Intelligence, Libyan Prime Minister Abdul Hamid Dbeibah is expected to visit Moscow in the coming days to meet with his Russian counterpart, Mikhail Mishustin, to discuss the situation in Libya.
This visit is part of Russia’s efforts to strengthen its presence in the Libyan crisis and maintain channels for discussion in western Libya, despite being one of Haftar’s main sponsors. In September, Khalifa Haftar visited Russia to strengthen collaboration with Moscow according to Africa Intelligence’s sources. Putin met with Haftar to “discuss the situation in Libya” according to Russian media.
Before Haftar’s visit, Russian Deputy Defense Minister Yury Yevkurov arrived in Benghazi to assess the aftermath of the Derna catastrophe and the damage caused in the Green Mountain region, according to an official account.
