Discussions between the Audit Bureau and the NOC to establish a “tracking system” to counter fuel smuggling

Khaled Shukshuk, the head of the Audit Bureau, has called for accelerating tracking system installations to reduce smuggling and focus on production development.

Shukshuk discussed with Farhat Ben Qadara, the head of the National Oil Corporation, the challenges facing the Corporation in fuel supply and distribution methods, amid the growing challenges regarding fuel smuggling and rising energy production costs.

Shukshuk also discussed a plan to stabilize oil and gas production, in addition to carbon emissions resulting from gas production and the possibility of benefiting from them in generating electricity, leading to energy waste reduction and cost reduction.

The two sides also discussed the corporation’s plan to increase production in the coming years and its intention to invest with strategic partners, including the Libyan Investment Authority.

For his part, the head of the Corporation confirmed his keenness to follow up on the Corporation’s activities within the specialized departments and its affiliated companies, to take note of the Audit Bureau’s remarks and recommendations, whilst praising its role in enhancing the Corporation’s capacity.

The Brega Oil Company recently reviewed an automated system project that tracks, controls, and monitors fuel sales and distribution at stations, ensuring direct access to beneficiaries. The project aims to monitor fuel distribution, eliminate smuggling, preserve national wealth, provide fuel in remote areas, control smugglers, take necessary measures against them, and hold all relevant parties responsible.
