The Egyptian Foreign Ministry has welcomed the statement issued by Khalifa Haftar, the Head of the Presidential Council, Mohammed Menfi, and the Speaker of the House of Representatives (HoR) Aqila Saleh.
Menfi, Haftar and Saleh reiterated, in a statement following the end of the tripartite meeting on Saturday, the “need for Libyan ownership” for any political process and national dialogue, saying it was necessary that the participation in any processes would be via the “Libyan national framework.”
The Foreign Ministry added in a statement on Sunday that it was important for Saleh to meet with the Head of the High Council of State (HCS), Mohammed Takala, to discuss and complete the national political track leading to elections.
Egypt also reiterated support for all Libyan state institutions to fulfill all the needed frameworks that lead to holding parliamentary and presidential elections as soon as possible.
