Libya Alahrar TV channel has obtained a copy of the High National Elections Commission’s (HNEC) proposal to the House of Representatives’ (HoR) Speaker and Legislative and Constitutional Committee of the HoR to form a committee tasked with devising electoral legislations for the December 24 general elections.
The new committee is supposed to include members of the legal and constitutional committees of the Libyan Political Dialogue and HNEC members as well as UNSMIL elections’ advisors.
Speaking on the phone to Libya Alahrar TV, the Head of the HNEC, Emad Al-Sayeh, said the work of the new committee is related only to devising legislations and laws for elections not a constitutional basis, adding that the committee was formed by an HoR decision (No.42) and it will start work after Eid Al-Adha celebration in late July.
