The Libyan Prime Minister-elect, Abdul-Hamid Dbeibah, has arrived in Sirte ahead of the holding of the House of Representatives’ (HoR) session to grant the Government of National Unity (GNU) confidence, Libya Alahrar TV correspondent reported Monday morning.
The Speaker of the HoR, Aqila Saleh, also arrived in Sirte ahead of the full-quorum session that will be very crucial to Libya’s upcoming political transitional phases before holding elections that are set to be on December 24, 2021.
The media advisor to HoR Speaker, Fathi Al-Maryami, said over 80 MPs arrived in Sirte to partake in the session that will see a vote of confidence to the GNU in the presence of the Prime Minister-elect Dbeibah.
Meanwhile, the UN envoy to Libya and Head of the United Nations Support Mission in Libya (UNSMIL), Jan Kubis, stressed Sunday the importance of holding the House of Representatives session on Monday – 8 March – saying it is another important step towards restoring the unity and legitimacy of Libya’s institutions and authorities, in order to achieve the unity, sovereignty, and stability of Libya.
