Libya’s State Council condemns Israeli genocide in Gaza

The High Council of State (HCS) said in a statement on Sunday that the continuation of the crimes of the Israeli occupation in the Gaza Strip amid the international community’s inaction was a disgrace to humanity, describing the occupation’s violations as a crime of genocide.

The HCS called on the Government of National Unity (GNU) and “all free people in the world” to make every effort as well as to mobilize international positions to stop the war and allow aid to enter the Gaza Strip.

“We call on the Libyan people, the Arab and Islamic peoples, and supporters of human rights in the world to support the Palestinian people and to help stop the unprecedented crimes of genocide committed by the Zionists in Gaza and the rest of the occupied territories in Palestine.” The HCS said.

On Friday, the Libyan Ministry of Foreign Affairs expressed its strong condemnation of the targeting of defenseless civilians in the northern Gaza Strip, which resulted in the death of dozens and the injury of hundreds as a result of the occupation forces’ bombing.

At least 17 Palestinians were killed in attacks by the Israeli army on three houses in central and northern Gaza Strip. The Palestinian official news agency, WAFA, said warplanes targeted two houses in Deir al-Balah in the central Gaza Strip, which killed at least 15 Palestinians and left numerous injuries.

Reports said that the Israeli army also bombed a house in the Jabalia refugee camp in northern Gaza where 70 Palestinians had sought shelter. That strike killed at least two people.

Israeli occupation forces have launched a deadly military offensive on the Gaza Strip since an October 07, 2023 attack by the Palestinian resistance group, Hamas, which Tel Aviv said killed less than 1,200 people.

At least 30,035 Palestinians have since been killed and 70,457 injured amid mass destruction and shortages of necessities.
