Russia, Jordan’s Foreign Ministers call on “foreign powers” to encourage Libyans to sit for dialogue

The Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov has called on the “powers” that have influence on the Libyan parties to encourage them to sit on the dialogue table and abandon foreign interventions.

Lavrov said in a presser with his Jordanian counterpart Ayman Safadi in Moscow that stability in Libya can only be achieved through inclusive dialogue, reiterating the need for doing away with all kinds of external interference in Libya.

Meanwhile, Safadi stressed the need for reaching a political solution in Libya, calling on all parties to exert efforts to prevent Libya from becoming a regional and international battleground.

Safadi also indicated that Jordan backs up Berlin conference conclusions and hailed the efforts exerted by Moscow in hosting the parties of the Libyan conflict.

The Presidential Council of the Government of National Accord (GNA) suspended Wednesday its participation in all dialogues – military, political and economic – that are led by the UNSMIL, calling for firm actions against the aggressors and their violations.
