Two kids killed by landmine planted during Haftar’s war on Tripoli

Two children from one one family were killed by a blast of a landmine planted near their house in Ain Zara, south Tripoli – where Russian Wagner Mercenaries under the command of Khalifa Haftar were positioned between August 2019 and May 2020.

The spokesman for the Emergency and Ambulance Apparatus, Osama Ali, has confirmed the news to Libya Alahrar TV as Libyan Crimes Watch called for investigation into the the crimes of landmines that were planted by pro-Haftar militias in south Tripoli.

Mouad and Fayda Abu Ras were two children who lost their lives in a landmine expulsion, the Libyan Crimes Watch said, adding that those responsible for planting the mines must be brought to justice for these crimes that amount to war crimes.

The Libyan Crimes Watch added that landmines are still taking the lives of civilians in a number of areas, calling on the relevant authorities of the Government of National Unity to double up efforts to clear the landmines and protect the people.
