The Head of the Food Control Unit, Abu Bakr Marwan, has confirmed the death of two people (a woman and a child), saying that several other people have received medical treatment due to food poisoning at a social event in Tripoli.
Marwan revealed to Libya Alahrar TV that the number of cases of food poisoning is constantly increasing and that they had been waiting for forensic reports and specialized laboratories to determine the real cause of the poison.
This incident comes as the Health Minister-designate, Ramadan Abu Janah, said that those infected with poisoning are receiving treatment in hospitals, adding that the situation is not as serious as rumors say.
